For months, the return of Playtonic’s green chameleon and purple bat duo has been building up, and a release date has finally been announced.
At the MIX Fall Game Showcase, the devs at Playtonic Games have spilled the beans on the eagerly awaited release date of Yooka-Replaylee. For gamers who played the original Yooka-Laylee from 2017, they can finally look forward to playing the remaster on October 9.
Retelling the story of their very first adventure, the two treasure hunters, Yooka, the charming green chameleon, and his fluffy little bat companion Laylee, take on the corporate creep Capital B, who is attempting to change the course of the universe by stealing all the Pagies to the One Book.
As previously mentioned, Yooka-Laylee was released eight years ago for eighth gen consoles and PC, and was a crowdfunded game at that. The upcoming remaster has been built up for a while, including Playtonic offering discounts to those who already owned the original version of the game. Earlier this summer, a Steam demo was also made available for a time.
Yooka-Replaylee will offer both new and long-time fans a mix of enhanced visuals and gameplay and new content as part of overall quality-of-life improvements from the original. The remaster will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The game is also confirmed to be heading to the new Nintendo Switch 2 (in addition to its predecessor).
