Remember that NCSoft MMORPG set in the Horizon universe that was rumored to exist until it wasn’t then was again? Well, it’s real under the name Horizon Steel Frontiers.
NCSoft has billed the game as a free-to-play PC and mobile game that’s “a full-fledged MMORPG that NCSoft has built specifically for mobile.” The game will see the player tackling the same mechanics from the mainline games, like taming mechanical beasts in a world teeming with thousands of other players.
Horizon Steel Frontiers allows you to create your own character while remaining consistent with the in-game tribes.
The most intriguing part of it, though, is surely that there’s no word on it coming to PS5, marking this as a weird licensed fare with no sign of coming to the platform the IP is tied to. Perhaps it will later in its life when or if the game proves to make waves in the free-to-play market, but that remains to be seen.
NCSoft has no proper release date, but wants to release it “as soon as possible,” so we’ll likely see pre-registrations pop open decently soon.
