Sony has put forth a lawsuit against an eBay seller selling unauthorized PlayStation merchandise. The user in question, zaocuand-002, was selling a travel bag designed for the PS5 Slim.
Dug up by The Game Post, Sony, which is seeking two million for each counterfeit use, accuses the user of selling this bag to unknowing customers that this isn’t an officially licensed PlayStation product. The console maker is using the typical jargon they’ve used in past lawsuits of using names and logos in descriptions, on the product itself, and in metadata to trick consumers.

The case is ongoing, but it does seem like a reasonably open and shut case regardless of who you side with. Siding with PlayStation, they do have the trademarks, copyright, and ownership of the branding, while siding with the unauthorized vendor, we doubt they have a weighty legal team on retainer.
Sony is really looking to clean up its bootleg product pool, as of late. You may remember well before Sony did their own face plates, Customize My Plates stepped in only to be on the receiving end of a letter from Sony just days before the plates were supposed to launch.
Do you think this is a good thing Sony is doing or will it hurt them in the long run, as who hasn’t bought knock-off PS merch? Let us know below!
