Matt MartindaleDuring Sony’s State of Play Japan show, the developer announced a new PS5 was on the way. Sadly, for those of us outside of Japan, the latest iteration of Sony’s incredibly successful console will be exclusive to its home country.
The 825 GB digital version will only support the Japanese language and is set at a cheaper price of ¥55,000($350). The current retail price for a digital only PS5 is $499.99 in the US and £429.99 in the UK.
The PS5 recently surpassed 84m units sold worldwide but Sony clearly sees more room for growth in its domestic market. Japanese gamers won’t have to wait long as the new PS5 will be released on November 21, 2025.
