Ratchet & Clank Go Mobile With Ranger Rumble

Ratchet & Clank have been one of PlayStation’s long-standing platform mascots with the galactic heroes celebrating their 23rd anniversary this month, after the initial release of the PlayStation 2 classic, Ratchet & Clank. Their last game appearance they made was back in 2021 with Insomniac’s exceptional PlayStation 5 title, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.

Now, the series is making the jump to mobile with a new free-to-play multiplayer mobile shooter, developed by BiBi in collaboration with Insomniac Games. The game will put players in the shoes of aspiring Galactic Rangers as they take part in Captain Qwark’s training simulation, where they’ll need to shoot, platform and collect bolts to succeed. If you’re yet to see any footage of the game, you can check out the reveal trailer below to get a sense of the gameplay before the title heads to mobile.

Despite the promising-looking trailer, many fans are likely to be disappointed that the latest Ratchet & Clank game isn’t a PS5 title or a new single-player adventure. Only time will tell if Ranger Rumble will be a hit with the mobile gaming community. Still, many long-time fans of the series will likely check it out, especially if the charm and inventive weaponry carry over.

At the time, the game has no release date, but pre-registrations are live via the game’s official site.

I really wasn’t expecting this, but I’m hoping this does well so Insomniac can feel incentivised to keep the franchise alive
