Sony: Devs Have A “Real Sense Of Pride” Working With PS4

And from whence does that joyful pride come? Why, from the fact that they helped make it, of course.

The biggest change Sony has made in creating their new video game console is this-

Rather than producing a piece of hardware that initially baffles game makers, the electronics giant first asked designers what they wanted from the new machine. Then they simply implemented all that feedback and voila! A system everyone seems to love.

When Sony Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida was asked about the kind of feedback he seeks from the internal teams, he responded as follows on the Euro PlayStation Blog :

"I don't have to ask for this feedback, they just tell me. They are so happy that they can just focus on the games. They don't have to spend so much time trying to understand the hardware. The progress that all teams have made is great. That's a consistent message that I get. Many of the team members of the studios were already involved in the discussion of what PS4 should be, what DUALSHOCK 4 should be in terms of improvement from DUALSHOCK 3.

I get the feeling when I talk to the teams that there's a real sense of pride that they are now using the system they helped to design. They have a genuine passion for showing why PS4 is so special for playing games on. We can show the best of PS4 through our games."

Maybe that's the reason we've been seeing so much enthusiasm on the part of developers who talk about the PS4. It's simply because this time around, Sony finally listened. The end result is a console that delivers precisely what they asked for, and maybe even a tad extra. Remember when Sony opted to double the available 4GB of GDDR5 RAM? That was a piece of good news developers received, yes?

If you haven't done so already, you might want to pre-order the next-gen console in question…
