Would Smaller Breasts Lead To Fewer Fighting Game Fans?

Maybe it's an insulting question and while hardcore fighting fans will immediately scoff, let's think about this for a minute.

We all know that while video game females have enjoyed a more realistic reshaping in recent years, that hasn't necessarily applied to the fighting genre. And maybe it's simply because we're used to seeing some jiggling and without it, the genre might actually lose popularity.

I'm not trying to imply that the majority of those who buy a Dead or Alive or Tekken or Street Fighter wouldn't buy these games if the women had normal busts. In fact, I know of several die-hard fighting fanatics who really couldn't care less; they just love the genre. That being said, when we're talking about teen males – still one of the largest demographics in the industry – there's no underestimating the appeal of cleavage (virtual or otherwise).

There's a lot of discussion in the realm of feminism and how women are portrayed in all forms of entertainment, and some say potential backlash is the reason we're not getting Dead or Alive: Xtreme 3 . Then there was the censoring of Cammy and R. Mika in the upcoming Street Fighter V , which also generated plenty of backlash. Obviously, with these games always in the news, sales would probably rise as opposed to fall. But I'm talking about a complete overhaul: If Japanese developers totally revamped all top-heavy females in fighting games, would this indeed have a negative impact on sales…?

I wouldn't dismiss that theory so quickly. Any game that has a hidden "OMG Breast Motion Mode" option probably has designers who believe this kind of thing has some appeal. And of course, it does.

Who actually cares about boobs? It's all about the booty lol.

In all seriousness, if gamers are more inclined to play fighting games because the females in the game have big breast then it's probably best they do something else with their time.

I should hope so. Idealized human forms are very important to these virtual experiences.

I think it would depend on the franchise. DOA I think it would cause the fans to backlash and hurt sales. It's always kinda been one of the appeals of that game. Almost any other game I'd say no. It might even work to increase sales with all the hyper political correctness going on.

No. But artists need to be allowed to make the content they want. Afraid of boobs? Don't buy the game.

"artists" 😀 This is as much art as your average soft-core porn flick.

Subjective. I personally don't find these games enjoyable and pretty tacky but to each his own.

I think it's become a problem when a genre is qualified and quantified based on some part of the human body.. moreso when we're talking about women's breast xD

I believe that the community as a whole should help everyone veer away from this kind of thinking, and to answer the question, I personally think (sadly) that the total number of fighting game afficionados would indeed dwindle down, but to an unnoticeable and largely ignorable amount.

Boobs were shrunk in MKX, still sold well no?

I think the fighting game mechanics and balance are far more attractive for me lol, but why not good asses and boobs? lets be honest I'm sure women would love to look like the DoA girls as much like we men would love to be ripped as Kratos, Ryu or Batman.

It's annoying when they are all the same like Bioware games.

i actually find boobs as a turn off the bigger they make them in games. or if thats what the focal point tends to be. i smh and go wtf were the developers thinking? can they not get laid that this is how they compensate?

Most often I use the outfits that makes the girls in DOA look decent. The less revealing outfits. In tekken, my favorite character is xiaoyu because of her fighting style… And people tend to complain a lot when I use law XD. But clearly blobs were never a reason for me to play those games. After a while though, those games start to get boring. Haven't played DOA in a long time. Haven't played Tekken since that free to play one on ps3. Locked out xiaoyu so no point in playing for me. Well, not locked out, unlocks were random so I didn't care much about the game. Fighting games just aren't worth it anymore for me

I'll buy the game regardless but I am so sick of the SJWs. It's at the point where I want GTA VI to come out soon and be absolutely the most offensive and 'uncomfortable' game of all time just to really piss these whiney a-holes off.

This movement just looks bad as it's unnatural. I like it natural:) Like Jill's breast in RE1 Remake HD.

I don't mind big breasts in games, but this OMG mode is truly unrealistic & unsynchronized with the rest of their bodies.

But as an old famous star used to say….
"Thanks for the Mammeries….OOPS,…Memories".

I think it's meant to be stupid ridiculous, but you're right. I don't think it's all that amusing, either.
