Well yeah, just about every critic on earth made mention of this in his or her review ( I know I did ), so this shouldn't come as any surprise.
During the Nasdaq Investor Conference in Europe this week, Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen admitted that the recently released Star Wars: Battlefront is "accessible" and probably not for the hardcore player.
As reported by GameSpot , Jorgensen basically said there's a reason the game holds the "T"-Teen rating:
"Star Wars Battlefront is a first-person shooter, but it is [one of] the only teen-rated first-person shooters. We had designed it to be a much more accessible product to a wide age group.
So, an 8-year-old could play with his father on the couch, as well as a teenager or 20-year-old could play the game and enjoy it. It is more accessible. And for the hardcore, it may not have the depth that they wanted in the game."
Jorgensen added that he does expect Battlefront to perform exceedingly well, and he's confident it will hit the company's raised shipment target of 13 million. The game has already set a new digital record for EA, and don't forget that the first expansion, Battle of Jakku , is now available for all platforms.

Maybe that's a reason I like it so much. I need all the dumbing down I can get with these online FPS types. I feel innately retarded when I play them competively.
Couldn't agree more. I suppose I am a "core" gamer, but I have been thrilled to hear how accessible this game is. I associate Star Wars with fun, feeling great, smiling. Hardcore shooters are tense, frustrating, highly competitive. I can't wait to open my copy of Battlefront Christmas morning so I can play in a fun, easily accessible Star Wars playground with a smile on my face. That, to me, is much more the spirit of Star Wars.
I'm still struggling with how "accessible" this game is. If that just means the controls aren't too complicated and there's no blood/guts/swearing then sure… I guess you could say it's "accessible".
If accessible is supposed to mean it's fun for the casual gamer that doesn't have a lot of hours to dedicate to becoming a badass shooter then no, no this game is not.
If you're an avid Star Wars fan, but not an avid shooter gamer, you are likely going to struggle. The matching system is infuriating for casual players, or noobs, whatever you want to call me. In online play you are constantly matched up with players that are way, way, WAY better than you. You will die, all the time, every time, constantly dead.
Here's what my experience in all the FPS modes has been thus far: Spawn, run out a bit, maybe spot an enemy, die. Repeat.
I love the environments, the atmosphere, the overall attention to detail. It's incredible, and deserves to be admired. If only they had implemented some semblance of a real story mode where I could really have fun in this rich Star Wars universe, this game would have been so much better.
I played the missions, and I'm enjoying the fighter squadron mode, but as it stands I'm mildly regretting dropping $80 on this game.
I really, really want to enjoy it. I know my problem is that I'm just not very good at it, and I will continue to plod away trying to get better so I can enjoy the other game modes, but it is seriously, hulk-ragingly frustrating. And that's just not what I play games for these days.
I think of battlefield as accessible with its customisation and variety. Swbf just lacks it big time.
I enjoy playing games for some sort of story. If I have fun while playing the story all the bonus. Sooooo where's the story in this game? Oh, there isn't one, so this game is NOT accessible to those such as me…. Yep, 'accessible to all' is total BS.
