One of the most anticipated games of the generation shipped 12 million units in its first 24 hours .
And although Bethesda hasn't released an official sales update, VGChartz claims the well-received Fallout 4 sold nearly 5.2 million copies worldwide in its first week at retail.
If accurate, it means stores haven't yet sold through half the original shipped amount. But 5.19 million is still pretty impressive; in terms of platform distribution: 58 percent of the copies sold were for PlayStation 4 (3,010,966), 33 percent were for Xbox One (1,729,944) and only 9 percent were for PC (449,694). Region-wise, 49 percent (2,533,033) of the copies were sold in the U.S. while 33 percent (1,734,654) were sold in Europe.
Fallout 4 is definitely a giant game and people are really losing themselves in the massive adventure (just ask the guys at CD Projekt Red ). The game is so popular – and so addictive – that it even prompted this parody video .

Must sell more!
Somehow I ended up building up a settlement most of the day today. Fun stuff but I better get back on mission tonight. Piper is after my johnson and looks good in Cait's clothes. That girl was too brash so I sent her to my Starlight settlement.
I need more caps!!! Not enough money in this game.
so i dont have a problem with caps since i use that glitch to get free stuff from the vendors. it might be cheating but i dont want to spend 3 years playing this game just to get things done. it really is awesome and doesnt effect anything. its made the game way more fun. but not every one wants to cheat.
I'll cheat. I can quicksave before every battle so I figure I'm already there. what do ya do?

so has anyone figured out how Vgchartz gets their numbers?
I ask only because I've heard rumors as to how it's done and if it's true their numbers could be real innacurate.

Crystal Ball
Look here.
http://www.shacknews.com/article/92119/fallout-4-first-day-pc-sales-estimated-to-be-over-12-million-units
This may be a more respectable estimate. They even state 1.2million day one PC sales is inaccurately low because of time zone variance.
See how massive of a variance there is?
VGchartz has reported well less than half.
Their numbers are crap.

Btw this process is highly accurate.
It's nice having a site plainly tell you how they arrive at their numbers.
Really, this makes VGchartz look so bad when they're not even ballpark close.
They literally just guess, and they don't do a good job of it. They claim to have better data on Sony and Microsoft's own hardware than Sony and Microsoft do.
VGC shouldn't be cited as a source for anything.
