Timing is everything.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III managed to beat the anticipated Star Wars: Battlefront to market by 11 days and in the eyes of some, that could be problematic for EA's upcoming multiplayer shooter.
There's no doubt that the two games will be vying for players when both are available, and this head-start for Activision's product could be huge. As every multiplayer FPS lover tells me, it's very difficult to play two games at the same time; if you want to excel and keep up with the competition, you really need to stick to one. Well, it seems Black Ops III just set a new "engagement" record , with over 75 million enjoying the online action in the first three days. Of those that are currently playing the game, how many are suddenly not planning to get Battlefront …?
You were going to hold off because the latter title interested you more, but all your friends went and got CoD. Now you're sitting there, trying to wait patiently for Battlefront but every time you log onto your PS4 or Xbox One, you see your friends playing. You want to play, don't you? This phenomenon could be happening on a pretty big scale right now, and that could translate to lower-than-anticipated sales for Battlefront out of the gate. Look, in this uber-competitive industry, 11 days is like an eternity.
Related Game(s): Call of Duty: Black Ops III , Star Wars: Battlefront
With Star Wars now coming out on film done by a real film maker I think the game will just get even more excitement around it even though it looks kinda weak.
Won't matter it's Star Wars. Just like CoD is CoD.
good point.
Not well explained but the point is there.
I think thats all you needed to state to get your point across big railer xD
Well I'm getting Star Wars and so are a million other people.
perhaps even 2 million
I'm guessing more. I have friends that don't play FPS games, I have friends who don't play competitive mp games. None of this matters because it's Star Wars. That special edition Star Wars bundle is going to sell out. These same people are buying thay model just because… it's Star Wars.

Dont care about either.
SWBF is pretty good and its star wars so i doubt it.
Battlefront sales may be affected in its opening week, and people might panic, but expect a huge spike in sale after the movie is released next month.
So I don't think overall sales will be markedly affected by COD's earlier release.
I skipped CoD for SW, already pre-ordered my Darth Vader edition PS4.
You are not the only one…
Same here
It is for this reason why I haven't played Destiny (or any game on my PS4) for almost a week and a half now. Nor have I bought Black Ops III (even though the temptation was so strong).
It's all SW:Battlefront for me this last few days of 2015.. and probably a few months into 2016!
To me and many others their 2 very different games both with legions of diehard fans, the sales for both will be just fine.
And those people telling you that you need to stick to one to be competitive are full of it. The only reason you would need to stick to one is because your trying to be somebody at the top of the leaderboards, but that rarely translates to them being good.
