Jason DittonThe Katamari series, which celebrated the 20-year-anniversary since Katamari Damacy first released in 2004… oh dear Mercy, it’s been 21 years of Katamari. Ignoring the sudden onset of existential ennui over the ever-rolling passage of time, however, a brand new title in the now long-running series was announced.
Once again, the King of All Cosmos has unintentionally destroyed his namesake, this time including Earth itself in the destruction whilst fiddling with some sort of scroll. As the Prince of all Cosmos, or any of his 68 now customizable cousins, it has been confirmed that Once Upon will be the first Katamari to feature a four-player multiplayer mode known as KatamariBall, and a what is almost guaranteed to be glorious new soundtrack, as a Katamari game’s OST being phenomenal almost goes without saying.
Once Upon A KATAMARI will be on the PC, Switch, Xbox Series, and PS5. It launches on October 23, 2025 in Japan, and the 24th in the rest of the world.
