Sony had a decently-sized State of Play, pretty much wholly focused on Japanese developers and one or two Japan-Only announcements. This article is going to be a fairly rapid-fire review and outline of said announcements, with potentially closer looks to come in the days to come. The text rundown will follow the order of the State of Play game announcements.
Dragon Quest VII re-release date announced
Firstly, we got a concrete date for Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined, and news some of the additions- added to this readjustment to the seventh installment of the legendary JRPG franchise. This contributor is largely unfamiliar with Dragon Quest outside of the eighth and 11th games in the series, so they’re not certain how big a deal the story-beats and characters shown were and are to the title. They’ll leave it to the reader to look at the footage shown at the State of Play on their own terms. However, it doesn’t take any serious knowledge of the game to note that it will officially arrive on February 5, 2026.
InKONBINI: One Store. Many Stories. And Coffee Talk Tokyo Announced
Two smaller, charming and cozier titles made their appearances at the State of Play. The former a stylized 3D narrative and sim title, where you work as a clerk at a small convenience store in the Japanese countryside, and the latter is a 2D narrative title, where you, as a barista in Tokyo, serve humans and descendants of various yokai and other mythological creatures. The former arrives sometime in April 2026, and the latter on a slightly more concrete date of March 5, 2026.
New BrokenLore games
In what appears to be part of a series of horror releases that this contributor cannot comment on, being wholly unfamiliar with beyond seeing the name of the series once or twice, two additions were announced. UNFOLLOW, which focuses on the darker side of social media, where you, as a girl named Anne, use your smartphone to try to escape an unsettling house, and ASCEND, which appears to chronologically follow DON’T WATCH, where the story follows Ren and Yui as they climb Tokyo Tower as they wish to make it big on an unbranded video-sharing site. The former arrives on January 16, 2025, and the latter in a more undefined window of Summer 2026.
Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly Remake Release Date Announced
In news that this contributor can, in fact, comment on, but won’t because if they do they will not shut up about it, the newest return to All God’s Village was announced to release on March 12, 2026. This title will be looked at more closely as the release date draws closer, largely so this quick rundown article doesn’t get too big.
Dynasty Warriors 0 Major DLC Release Date Announced
The rather successful newest addition to the Dynasty Warrior franchise’s big first DLC was shown off, showing the protagonist using new weapons, a new playable character, and what this contributor would assume are four new branches for the story, beyond the main title’s original four branches of the early years of the Three Kingdom era. The Visions of Four Heroes DLC, as it’s officially titled, releases on January 22, 2026, with a pre-order bonus for a Yellow Turban costume.
Gran Turismo 7 Power Pack Announcement
Gran Turismo Series creator Kazunori Yamauchi made an additional announcement to go alone with the SPEC III one made back at the September State of Play. This contributor isn’t wholly certain what the Power Pack, which will release along with said SPEC III actually is, other than Yamauchi stating it will be a more realistic form of Gran Turismo. Having not touched a Gran Turismo title, they were under the impression that was this particular series’ spiel since at least GT3. Yamauchi’s comment about adding “24-hour races” and other realistic forms leads this contributor to believe they had even less idea than they thought they did, however. Both release on December 4, both the Power Pack will be a paid addition, where the SPEC III DLC will be free.
MotionRec Reveal
What looks to be an interesting smaller name title, MotionRec is a 2D platformer that will use recorded actions from previous areas to move further on into the game. This contributor feels that they’ve horribly explained how the game is meant to be played, but they’re also not sure how to put it that doesn’t refer to the Blinx: The Time Sweeper series, which was 3D and a series that is long dead. MotionRec releases sometime in Spring 2026.

Wandering Sword Announcement
3D Pixel art Wuxia RPG Wandering Sword, presently available solely on Steam since September 15, 2023, will be coming to the PS5 next year. The lovely title, which art style immediately brought the classic Live a Live to mind, is a free-form title, where different actions and choices lead to one of 20 potential endings. This release will include all DLC released for the Steam edition since 2023, and full Japanese voice acting for the first time. It will launch on May 28, 2026.
No Rest For Kaname Date Coming To The PS4/5
Previously releasing on the Switch, the newest edition to AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES’, No Rest For Kaname Date, has two of the series main characters in the titular Kaname Date and his sometime spherical, sometimes humanish assistant Aiba assisting the idol Iris in an alien escape game. If you’re familiar with the previous two titles in this series, this is likely not as relatively simple as that summary sounds. This contributor is, however, going in as blind as possible because they’ve been waiting for this to release on PS4/5 since it’s initial announcement, so they cannot comment further. It releases on February 26, 2026, for $39.99.
Tokyo Xtreme Racer Return
The long dormant series from Genki Racing Project, last seen in a non-mobile form back in 2006 with Import Tuner Challenge on the Xbox 360, and Kaidō: Tōge no Densetsu for the PS2 on back in 2005, will return for the first time in 20 years on February 26, 2026.

Once Upon A KATAMARI DLC Announcement
Once Upon a KATAMARI, another title that got a new release for the first time in ages earlier this year, announced two new DLC packs. The Dance Remix and Neo Remix packs, as they are called, will each contain five new music remixes and ten new customization options for your Cousin, which is a playable character if you don’t choose to use the Prince of all Cosmos or any of the pre-established Cousins. Explaining will not help if you are unfamiliar with the series. There was no announced release date, other than by the end of the year.
Sonic the Hedgehog appears in Pac-Man World 2: Re-Pac
In news this contributor probably should have seen coming with the yellow pellet eater’s appearing in Sonic Racing: Crossworlds, the aforementioned gaming icon will get to experience what a typical 3D Sonic title is like, in which Sonic enemies, series staples and gimmicks will make appearances, and the Pac will encounter Dr. Eggman in a boss battle, available as of 11/11/2025.
Digimon Time Stranger DLC Announcement
Time Stranger, which released last month and has a review on this very website, announced it’s first new Digimon and Alternate Episode DLC. It will include five unique Digimon, and a story focused on certain key characters from the full game’s main story. It releases sometime this winter.
Super Robot Wars Y Collaboration DLC Announcement
The multi-universe strategy mecha RPG announced it’s first set of collab character DLC. It will feature Galactic Whirlwind Bryger, which this contributor is wholly unfamiliar with, The Big O, which this contributor is VERY familiar with and psyched for, and Futo Pi: The Portrait of Kamen Rider Skull, see the first note. New areas and playable units related to the three series will be added, and it releases on November 21st of this year.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Gogmazios Appears
The fourth free title update releases December 16, and prominently features the Great Halberd Dragon Gogmazios. There will additions to the endgame, and new seasonal events as well. If you play Wilds you have some idea of what to expect.
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds NIGHTs, AiAi, Tangle And Whisper Free DLC
There’s not much to be added that the title to this section does not already cover, and no one wants to hear this contributor excitedly rant about Tangle and Whisper finally being made playable for free in a console title. The three sets will release monthly, starting with NIGHTs sometime in December until Tangle and Whisper’s release in February of next year. Additionally, the previously announced Spongebob Squarepants DLC arrives later this month on November 19th, next week.
Never Grave: The Witch And The Curse Announcement
The newest action adventure Metroidvania title with multiplayer where you apparently control a young witch who can form into her hat to control other creatures in the world to fight for her, got a new trailer and an official release date. The game looks quite pretty, with more than a hint of macabre. It also looks to have some roguelike tendencies, although this contributor could very easily be misreading the trailer when they say that. It releases March 5, 2026.
Blazblue Entropy Effect X On The PS5
Blazblue Entropy Effect X, a mobile and Steam action roguelike that’s genuinely rather interesting, and this isn’t just coming from someone that’s resigned to never seeing a designated Blazblue fighting game again, will get a console release on February 12, 2026. It was stated that this will be a brand new story from the original Entropy Effect, featuring Naoto Kurogane once again.
DAMON And BABY Announcement
DAMON And BABY got more information on what it actually is this State of Play, and it appears to be an explorative adventure title with twin-stick shooter combat. As expected from when Guilty Gear creator Daisuke Ishiwatari, a legend in his own right that this contributor deeply respects, gets to exercise his more creative sensibilities, this looks quite interesting. It does not have an official release date, just a current window of sometime early in 2026.
Kyouran Makaism Reveal
As was immediately noticeable by the fairly distinctive art style, the Disgaea team will be trying their hand at an action RPG with new title Kyouran Makaism. The protagonist, whose identity is currently unrevealed, will be able to both fight alongside sixteen creatures after defeating them, or use them in weapon forms, in a quest to retrieve stolen pudding. It’s a Disgaea team title, that’s the simplest early explanation you’re going to get. It releases surprisingly soon, on January 29, 2026.
Octopath Traveler 0 Demo Announcement and Character Reveals
We got more information on the initial story for OT0, and were introduced to three new villains for the series, “The Covetous Witch” Lady Herminia, “The Hero” Tytos, and “The Playwright” Auguste. It also established the reason behind the town-building mechanic for this title alongside the second name in that trio. Octopath Traveler 0 cannot come soon enough in this contributor’s eyes, and it’s releasing in just a few short weeks on December 4, 2025 as is. Thankfully, there was a demo as of the State Of Play’s ending, where you can play the first three hours of the game.
Three Days Closed Beta for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls in December
In Tokon news, Arc System Works announced a three day long closed beta in early December. It will be, ideally, going uninterrupted for that three day period. The closed beta will include Spider-Man and the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider being available to play, as well as two new stages in the Savage Lands and the X-Mansion. The latter stage potentially de-confirms a number of possible roster additions, but that’s wholly a potential concern at this time.
Elden Ring Nightreign The Forsaken Hollows Announcement
In the last announcement from the show in terms of game news, Elden Ring: Nightreign announced two new playable classes/characters in “The Scholar” and “The Undertaker,” as well as two new end-of-night bosses and an unknown, to the player base, number of additional field bosses. It will additionally add a new Shifting Earth pattern which will change the map should it happen during a play session. The Forsaken Hollows also releases on December 4, 2025 and will run a pretty reasonable $15.
