Sony’s cheaper region-locked PS5 has seemingly caused a great deal of sales in Japan. Obviously, this new edition is making a killing in the country.
Famitsu hardware sales show that comparing the previous week’s sales numbers to the latest showcase a notable increase in the Digital Edition line of PS5s. For those out of the know, during PlayStation’s first-ever State of Play Japan, the console maker revealed a region-locked console that would be cheaper than the standards, retailing for ¥55,000 (or roughly $357).
Based on the numbers, prior to the region-locked unit, their Digital Edition sold a meager 489 units that week, but following the new version, it skyrocketed to 23,381 units.
