Elden Ring: Nightreign launched as a rougelike spin-off to the acclaimed Elden Ring in May. In July, the company announced it had already sold five million copies. Now, parent company, Kadokawa, has announced that the game has “performed well beyond initial expectations.” There is no currently available update for the sales figures that followed this report.
Although, Kadokawa did announce in its fiscal report that “We are aiming for further sales growth for Elden Ring: Nightreign, original Elden Ring, and its DLC,” they aim to do this through content “planned for release in FY2025.” Future DLC for Nightreign is currently reported to add more playable characters and bosses.
Whilst the game has sold well initially, the question remains as to whether the advent of DLC will allow FromSoftware to further increase sales for the game. Regardless, considering the generally positive reception and good sales, it seems that the game will be a profitable venture for the dev.
With the success of Elden Ring Nightreign, how will this influence future game development at FromSoftware? Would you like to see more multiplayer projects? Feel free to comment your thoughts below.
