Since the end of the seventh console generation, we have seen the gaming industry provide cross-buy programs to incentivise the adoption of new gaming platforms. This includes examples such as the PlayStation Vita, PS4, and more recently, the PS5.
Over the past few years, Sony has made a cautious transition into publishing first-party titles, including the likes of The Last of Us, Ratchet and Clank, Days Gone, and more on PC. However, considering the new Xbox “Play Anywhere” scheme, perhaps this is Sony’s response.
According to X user Amethyst, they have managed to find a cross-buy option on Sony’s PlayStation store. Billbil-kun, a popular leaker, has also now provided support for this claim. They claim to have accessed the CSS files, which state the new ‘cross-buy’ tag was added in June 2025.
So, what do you think of this new feature? Is it a good gesture from Sony to combat Xbox’s Play Anywhere, or is it an attempt to draw PC players into the PlayStation ecosystem? Please feel free to comment your thoughts below.
