Even several years after its release, Grand Theft Auto IV continues to sell.
And now, publisher Take-Two Interactive has announced that GTAIV is closing in on the mammoth 20 million-sold plateau. We've stumbled upon a financial presentation posted by Wedbush Morgan, and that's where we find the 20 million stat: the crazy number represents global sell-in figures as of February 19, and also includes total sales of the "Complete" and "Special Edition." Furthermore, this means that all told, the GTA franchise has passed 100 million sold overall, which is mighty impressive. In other news, the Gearbox sci-fi shooter, Borderlands , has hit 4 million sold, and we're all wondering how well their next project, Duke Nukem Forever , fares. That bad boy drops in early May… The Red Dead Redemption update says the stellar Western-themed title sits at 8 million units, and the two Mafia titles have sold about 5 million units combined. Take-Two could be looking at yet another good year, as they continue to expand beyond the admittedly expansive GTA boundary.
By the way, we're still waiting on a GTAV announcement, which is rumored to be set in modern-day Los Angeles.
