Red Dead Redemption Keeps Turning Big Profit For Take-Two

Grand Theft Auto is no longer the only gigantic bread-winner in the Take-Two family.

Red Dead Redemption launched way back in May of 2010 but the game continues to bring in profit for publisher Take-Two and developer Rockstar Games. According to Take-Two's latest quarterly results , they have shipped around 8 million units of their epic Western title. By comparison, that number isn't quite half of what they shipped of GTAIV in total but then again…GTA is GTA. And 8 million is pretty damn good. As for earnings, Take-Two raked in $334.3 million in net revenue, which is down 7% from the $360.4 million taken in during the third quarter of the previous year. Profits came in at $40.8 million, which is basically the same as the $39.4 million in the year-over-year comparison. So that's kind of boring, but overall, Take-Two is looking better and better.

For the nine months ending on December 31, the publisher's overall net revenue rose 80% to $954.5 million, and they turned a $98.4 million loss from the previous year into a $76.2 million profit. So yeah, say "thank you," Red Dead Redemption . For the current quarter, Take-Two plans to release MLB 2K11 and Top Spin 4 , and later, we can expect Duke Nukem Forever and L.A. Noire in May. The recently announced The Darkness II will arrive later in the year. But where the heck is Max Payne 3 …?

It wasn't on the release list for Take-Two and the only official statement now is- "There's no update on that title as of this time." That sounds a little discouraging, doesn't it? But we can't wait to see how L.A. Noire and Duke Nukem Forever turn out.
