When Valve Software boss Gabe Newell took the Sony stage at last year's E3, he told everyone the PlayStation 3 would be getting the "best version" of Portal 2 .
Well, that's more true now than ever. According to The Escapist , the developer is tossing in a bunch of new features, and PS3 owners will even get an extra copy of the game. Thanks to Valve's Steamworks platform, we'll be able to play co-op with both PS3 and PC players and by linking their PSN and Steam accounts, PS3 owners can actually unlock the PC or Mac version of the game for free. Valve has said in the past they will continue to support Portal 2 in a variety of ways, and that certainly includes updates and DLC. It's also nice to know that PS3 and PC owners can play nice together; it makes the experience that much wider, and allows for many more participants to be involved. Remember, Portal is definitely more of a PC thing, so the addition of that crowd is a big deal from a multiplayer standpoint. We'll be interested to see how Valve does with the PS3…the system they never really liked until only recently.
Portal 2 is slated to arrive for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac in mid-April.
