Sucker Punch: No Way We Could’ve Done InFamous 2 On 360

Most will agree that PlayStation 3 exclusives have continued to set and reset the quality and innovation bar with its top-notch exclusives this generation.

We've heard more than a few developers explain why their particular PS3 exclusive project couldn't be done on any other platform, and this includes Quantic Dream ( Heavy Rain ) SCEA Santa Monica ( God of War III ), Polyphony Digital ( Gran Turismo 5 ) and Naughty Dog ( Uncharted: Drake's Fortune and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves ). Now, Sucker Punch joins the clamor, as noted in a recent NowGamer interview with developer bosses Brian Fleming and Chris Zimmerman. First, Zimmerman admitted they made some "really dumb decisions" with the original inFamous , as the team wasn't entirely checked out on the PS3 hardware. He said that "in technical terms, the biggest thing that we've done is migrate a much larger part of our code to run on the SPUs." This leads him to believe that inFamous 2 couldn't possibly be done on any console but the PS3.

If you look at games like Uncharted 2 that’s a game that you actually can’t do on Xbox no matter how clever you are, there’s just more processing power on the PS3. inFamous 2 is going to be the same way. You’ll look at it and see that there’s no way we could have done this game on 360."

Well, it's certainly going to upset the 360 loyalists but even the most ardent Microsoft supporter would have to admit that the gap in quality is starting to widen. Obviously, this is because developers like Sucker Punch are going deeper and deeper into the PS3's technology and with the 360…well, there probably isn't much more in there. But anyway, keep yourself psyched for inFamous 2 by watching that bad-ass gameplay video .
