Project Origin Slips Back Into 2009

If you were a fan of Monolith's last atmospheric and intense production, F.E.A.R. , then the following two statements are probably true: 1. you played it on the Xbox 360 (the PS3 port was poor), and 2. you're eagerly awaiting the impending sequel, known as Project Origin . Well, in regards to the latter, we have some bad news for you…

Initially slated for "fall 2008," IGN now says the game has slipped into 2009. Art lead Dave Matthews broke the news during the Leipzig Games Convention last week, and now, Project Origin is tentatively scheduled to arrive some time during the first quarter of next year. However, to offset the pain caused by this unfortunate announcement, Monolith did provide Leipzig attendees with a few more juicy details to tide us over: firstly, it seems the game will feature "more interactive and varied environments," and secondly, we can expect some greatly improved AI. And hey, if you liked the story in F.E.A.R. , then you'll be happy to know they're promising an even more engrossing plot for the sequel, and that's certainly good news. It was all about the enduring creepiness in the first title; we're anticipating something even more riveting with the sequel.

Whenever Monolith nails down a finalized release date for Project Origin , we'll be one of the first to tell you about it. And don't worry; it seems obvious that we won't be getting another crappy 360-to-PS3 port. As far as we know, this title will release simultaneously for both next-gen platforms.
