Canceled, not canceled, in flux, in development, postponed, shelved…all such terms have been associated with Sledgehammer's latest project.
The developer worked with Infinity Ward on last year's Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 , but have long been rumored to be working on a standalone CoD entry themselves. Well, beyond "rumored," actually; it was officially confirmed at one point. And it was supposed to be third-person, too.
Then it sort of fell of the radar…until today. It has popped back into news circulation, as Videogamer spotted a job listing on the company's website. The job is no longer available but it was for a Senior FX Artist to help "create the most exceptional real-time effects with hyper realism for [its] next Call of Duty game." It may not be a next-gen project, either, as the job listing asked for someone with experience of "current generation hardware."
We're just not sure if this is still the "third-person action game" described last year, or just a return to the standard first-person formula. But hey, another Call of Duty …aren't you ecstatic?
